My family immigrated to the United States before I was born, from Caltanissetta (Sicily). I grew up in Boston.  It was a great place for a kid to grow up! What fun we had in the city.

Through my teenage years, I worked many jobs in and around the city of Boston. After college, I began working at the Department of Social Services. Later, I began working in the legal field in many of the largest, well-known law firms in downtown Boston. Some of my positions included being a floater, secretary, legal assistant, and paralegal.

A TIME OF CHANGE

September 11th was a time of change. That morning, I was at work on the 33rd floor of The Exchange Building, with a view of Logan Airport. Meanwhile, I was listening to what was happening on the radio. The law firm where I was employed had offices in the Twin Towers of NY, and several of our co-workers lost their lives. It proved to be a time of change, not only in the city but also in my own life. I evaluated what I could do to help people, and once again I made a change. I began working in the medical field at Tufts University as a research assistant.

A New Start

In 2004, my husband and I relocated to North Carolina, where I worked at Duke University in the Research Sciences Department.

In 2007, I started my own Virtual Assistant business, which has allowed me to spend more time with my family, especially my daughter. It has given me the freedom to be involved in doing volunteer work – giving back to the community.

A Love of Learning

One of my unique aspects is that I am always eager and willing to learn any programs that will benefit a client. In the last few years, I have learned much about blogging, CRM applications, social media, and websites. I am on a continuous learning path.

Since my business allows me to do what I love, spending time with my family and volunteer work, this spills over in my work. My clients see this reflected in my work and my demeanor. I believe that a happy worker is a productive worker! There are many goals I still have yet to reach. I look forward to completing the memoir I’ve been working on for many years.

“We tend to forget that happiness doesn’t come as a result of getting something we don’t have, but rather of recognizing and appreciating what we do have.”Frederick Koenig
